All in Pantone

Pantone Color of the Year.

Pantone has chosen a tone as the trend color of the year, which has nothing to do with its predecessor: Ultra Violet is refined, provocative and mystical - and leaves plenty of scope to perform on eyes, cheeks, lips and nails. We've seen that its deep royal purple-blue hue looks gorgeous on hair. We'd bet it'll look just as stellar on our nails, lips, and eyes. In order to truly embrace and celebrate the Pantone choice for the upcoming year, we rounded up the best ultra violet inspired hair and makeup styles to keep you on trend and powerfully purple.

Visionary, Original, Provocative, Creative

Hardly ever chosen as trend color of the year, Ultra Violet is already well on the way to dominate fashion, beauty, design and other areas. Last year alone, Alessandro Michele, Carolina Herrera and Demna Gvasalia took on Balenciaga's visionary color scheme for their summer collections, and there’s no reason why this can’t be honoured in makeup too!

Risk a Dark Lip

No one other than Kylie Jenner demonstrates that you can wear dark lipstick is back – and you can pout about without the Emo or Gothic label. The Kardashian chick has made the dark lips suitable for everyday use again! Ultra Violet in the form of eye-catching statement lips (matte is magnificent) - is guaranteed to attract everyone's attention. The art is to balance the contrast with the eyebrows, as dark lipstick with almost invisible eyebrows looks too expressive and distracts attention from the rest of the face and make-up. Dark lipstick is quite compatible with strong eye make-up, and the most important thing is to smooth out any irregularities in the skin that are particularly noticeable with dark lipstick.

Pastel Purple Peepers

Ultra Violet is a literal eye-catcher with a very special quality: iris is a color that suits all! Though purple shades must be applied carefully - after all, no beauty wants to look like a 12-round boxing match with the world heavyweight champion! For an expressive eye make-up, the eyelid is liberally primed with a delicate lilac tone. Here, a shade such as delicate Pink Lavender is particularly well suited. Next, fill in the lower lids with an Ultra Violet clayshade and blend the transition lines. In terms of eyeliner, only emphasize inner eyelid and subtly next to the upper eyelash - mauve or plum make an excellent choice for an elegant day look, opt for a steel or charcoal shade for the evening.

Get Tipsy

Watch out graphite, maroon, navy blue and fir green - here comes Ultra Violet! Not only all lovers of dark nails should be more than satisfied with the trend color of the year, because more obscured shades make for a glamorous nail.

And for Hair?

Not the common choice for our tresses, ultra violet is particularly elegant and luxurious. It is exciting and passionate, yet at the same time classic, stylish and more secretive than other hairstyles. Ultra Violet is suitable for women with light and dark complexions! If you're looking for the new big rainbow hair color, Pantone may have just found it.

The moody, mystical hue looks positively otherworldly when dyed onto strands, and we especially love that it's a darker shade. That means that, unlike the brighter Pantone 2016 Co-Color of the Year Rose Quartz (a hue that shared the title with the sky-blue Serenity) and last year’s Greenery, you don't need to have blond strands to get the look. Everyone can hop aboard the purple train! Temporary and semi-permanent dyes work amazingly, as you can try out the color without the commitment.
