PENNSYLVANIA Co-Sponsorship Memorandum: Proximity of Salons – Salon Safety

Summary: During the 2015-2016 legislative session, Representative Dom Costa (D) plans to introduce legislation that would provide for the proximity of salons under the same or adjoining roof.

The legislation will require that a salon that is located under the same or adjoining roof to be 100 feet from another salon. There will be exceptions in place for salons situated across from the entrance of another salon.

Co-sponsorship memoranda are released by members in an attempt to garner support for general issues or specific bills. As the General Assembly does not utilize legislative deadlines, an author may introduce a measure after releasing its co-sponsorship memorandum at any time during the session. Not all co-sponsorship memoranda will result in introduced legislation. The sponsor is a member of the minority party. The Republican Party controls both legislative chambers and the Democratic Party controls the Governor’s Office.
